Hippocrepis comosa (Horseshoe Vetch)

(Not yet recorded on Hutton Roof to my knowledge)

Below are some photos showing the rare Horseshoe Vetch which I have taken near to the Silverdale Cove on 6th May 2019. I have tried to get some photos of the leaflets and some of the photos shows the flowers still in closed bud.

This is probably the best example I have ever seen of the "clawed" sedge and you can also see the "talons".

This shows a localised area with at least 20 clumps spread about, you can make out the ornithopodia with its more yellow and brighter colours

Shows a early version with no yellowing or burnt tips
It shows a beautiful entanglement
